2015 Aston Martin Lagonda Sedan Revealed

The Lagonda name is officially back, this time on a limited-production sedan that so far has only been confirmed for the Middle Eastern market. But Lagonda isn’t a standalone brand just yet, with Aston Martin satisfied with using the storied nameplate for its new sedan only at present.

The Aston Martin Lagonda touched down in Oman this week where it’s about to undergo some hot-weather testing. Full details are yet to be revealed but we do know the new Lagonda is based on the bones of Aston Martin’s Rapide sedan and shares that model’s 6.0-liter V-12 engine.

The new Aston Martin Lagonda will be largely built by hand by a team of craft builders back at Aston Martin’s main facility in Gaydon, England—in the same building previously used for the One-77 hypercar’s construction, in fact. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2015.

Aston Martin likes to think of its new Lagonda as “exceptional automotive art.” However, it’s likely to also hint at the brand’s future styling themes while also blending some elements from the last Lagonda sedan launched in 1976 and produced up until 1990.

As mentioned, the cars will be produced in limited numbers and all purchases will be through invitation only for Aston Martin’s Middle Eastern customers. Fans elsewhere shouldn’t be too saddened because Aston Martin is planning more coachbuilt cars as an expansion of its personalization service.
