Ford’s F150 Raptor has developed a pretty rabid following. As a great looking, highly capable, fun-to-drive pickup both on-road and off, it’s no wonder truck fans have taken such a strong liking to the Raptor. We at Speed Society like them so much, we just picked up our second one!
We’ve seen the side-by-side comparison of the original V8-powered version getting spanked in a drag race against the 2017 model, which is powered by a stout turbocharged EcoBoost V6, but our 2014 has a little surprise for the new model in the form of a Roush supercharger and full Roush exhaust, giving it quite a bit more power than it offered in stock form. As gearheads, it’s only natural that we modify the 2017 as well, but before we tear into it, we wanted to do a baseline comparison to see how the siblings stack up in a head-to-head race.
We did three dig races, each with a convincing outcome in favor of the 2014. The roll race looked to be going the way of the 2017, only to see the older brother come trucking by the newest member of the family in equally convincing fashion. Keep an eye on the Speed Society channel to see what mods we have in store for our 2017 Raptor and how the two stack up once we’ve worked our magic on both of them.
