3500+hp With No Wheelie Bars! – Outlaw Drag Radial Racing

Radial vs the World is easily one of the coolest classes in all of drag racing, and this video from Urban Hillbilly shows exactly why everybody loves the class so much. Not only is there a wide range of body styles and chassis types, but the numbers these cars put up are nothing short of spectacular.

This footage, shot at Tulsa Raceway Park in Oklahoma during their Throwdown in T-Town event, shows all the action from the day, from qualifying to the semi finals, which would be the last round of the day due to rain moving in. In this nine minute video, we get to see small tire legends and legends in the making such a Mark Micke, Dewayne Mills and Keith Haney among many others going head to head and throwing down some ridiculous numbers.

As eliminations progress, we see some of the biggest names in the sport making their way toward the finals, with the badass twin turbo hemi-powered C7 Vette of Andrew Alepa – driven by Daniel Pharris – wading through the ladder to make it to the final. On the other side of the run sheet, perennial contender and multi-time radial world record holder Dewayne Mills races his way into the final round with a win in the semifinal over TRP owner Keith Haney in a great side-by-side drag race.

Pharris laid down the run of the event with his wicked 3.80 elapsed time on his bye run into the finals. The team played a little strategy there, knowing they had the win, they had the luxury of swinging for the fences without risk of losing if they knocked the tires loose. This allowed them to go for lane choice over the winner of the Mills-Haney matchup. While the lanes are TRP are fairly well even, lane choice can be used to psych out the other driver, perhaps causing him to make a mistake in the already-tense final round.

This was some great racing and some excellent footage, and we can’t wait to see more from TRP and Urban Hillbilly.
