Amazon just made it’s first drone delivery and said it took 13 minutes

For some time now, online retailer, Amazon, has been promising us that they would eventually offer a delivery system that completely revolutionizes the way that we buy goods online, ditching the post office in favor of their own in-house drone system that could potentially bring goods to your doorstep in just minutes.

While many speculate that this is type of delivery system is only a publicity ploy by Amazon to get more people shopping during the holiday time (Note the December release date of the video of their first delivery video), it looks like they have finally made some initial deliveries and the results look mighty promising if you take their word for the progress that they’ve managed to make so far.

The first drone delivery, as shown in this video, was made in the UK and brought a box to this customer’s doorstep in just 13 minutes with the company promising that no drone delivery will take any longer than about a half hour or so. While package delivery most certainly has been sped up over the years, this method is obviously unlike any that we have ever seen before.

Check out the video below that shows off of the first drone ever delivery taking place. Amazon says that restricted airspace could prove to be a little hiccup in their master plan, but a company with that much power is sure to find a way to make it all work. Are you expecting drone delivery to be something that we will see more widespread in 2017? What will they think of next?
