Best Power To Weight Ratio? Pro Street Opel got a Blower!

While they’re fairly rare to see on the streets here in the states, seeing an Opel GT on the dragstrip is actually not all that uncommon. The Opel is far less common than your typical drag cars, most often Mustangs, Camaro’s and G-Bodies, but you will definitely run across your share of them. Apparently, the platform makes for a pretty good working car, even if you cram a massive blower under, or well I guess I should say THROUGH, the hood. That’s exactly what this guy did with his, and it is a rowdy hotrod for sure!

Running in the awesome Pro Street class at Tulsa Raceway Park, Troy Scott put the class on notice when he added this monster supercharger during the off season. Watching this car rip off a string of brutally quick and consistent ET’s that look almost effortless despite the 4.50’s popping up on the scoreboard run after run. Once the sun set on the sticky Oklahoma track, Scott managed to dip into the 4.40’s before finally being derailed by a Cavalier that’s pretty badass in its own right.

Cars like this and the others you can see alongside Troy are what makes the Pro Street class so cool. There is a wide array of cars and combinations that all compete in the same eliminator. Diversity certainly gives the fans something to look at instead of the same old cookie cutter cars running the same ET’s lap after lap like you see at some events. The crew out at TRP, headed by Pro Mod and radial competitor Keith Haney, run a world-class facility that plays host to all kinds of events, reaching beyond the drag strip and hosting events at the on-site mud bog and even throwing huge community based events such as concerts that keep the local fans involved in the goings-on at the track. Promoters and track owners from around the country could learn a thing or 2 from Haney and his team.
