Biggest Lottery Winners, Where Are They Now

Hitting the lotto and buying badass cars go hand in hand, so we love these videos following up with past lottery winners to see how they invested their millions. While many out there love to see these big winners fail hard, I personally hate to see that, hoping instead to see them making sound financial decisions and spending their money wisely. However, it seems most people don’t take the time to seek advice of professionals and instead just throw piles of cash away chasing shoddy investments and wastefully buying anything in sight.

Of all these guys and gals who hit big paydays, nearly all of them end sadly with the winners ending up broke, especially those who were broke when they hit it big. It seems those who come from nothing simply can’t handle the pressure of managing millions and run through their winnings in just a few years when, if managed properly, they’d won enough to set them up for life and even taken care of their kids. Of course, some of them just ran into pure bad luck, such as #10 on the list, the infamous Jack Whittaker.

Prior to winning his massive $300 million dollar jackpot, Whittaker was already well off, reportedly worth some $17 million. However, when he hit it big, his life spiraled out of control. He was experienced with managing a sizable wealth, so everybody expected him to be just fine with his winnings, but what they didn’t take into account was human nature. Whittaker had his truck broken into multiple times, losing over a half million dollars in cash when thieves snatched a briefcase full of cash outside a strip club he frequented. However, losing a chunk of cash would only be the beginning of the bad news for Jack. Within months, his grand daughter and her boyfriend both passed away from drug overdoses, followed shortly by the death of his daughter. As you can imagine, these painful losses led Jack to wish he’d never bought the winning ticket, a sentiment echoed by several of the other winners.
