Biker Alleges Dallas Sheriff Deputy Made Up Charge to SEIZE Video Evidence!

We just aren’t really sure where to go with this, so we’re going to just present the facts for you and let you decide if this is right or wrong.

This motorcyclist, Chris Moore, was riding his bike amongst a large group of sport bikes. It’s not immediately apparent if he was riding as part of the group or not, and that does seem to matter as the video progresses. A few minutes in, one of several cop cars that appear in the video alert Moore to pull over, which Moore does as soon as he reaches a safe area to do so. Once stopped, Moore is indignant but cooperative, questioning the officer about why he was pulled over and repeatedly getting no direct answer. The officer says point blank that he’s going to take his camera and use it as evidence of crimes that have been committed, but at no point does he indicate anything Moore has done illegally. In fact, only after going to his car for a few moments and running Moore’s information does the officer come back with an actual crime to charge Moore with: having an obstructed license plate. It seems that in the state of Texas, having an obstructed license plate is an arrestable offense, according to a quick Google search on the subject, and that is exactly what happens. However, when a second officer walks around Moore’s bike with his Moore’s helmet in his hand, it’s pretty clear there is nothing blocking the view of the plate.

Normally we try to see things as neutrally as possible, but it’s really hard to agree with this charge considering there is footage of the license plate itself and there is no obstruction, at least not that we can see. So what do you think, America? Was this just a ploy for the officer to get his hands on the Moore’s camera and the footage contained within, or did the officer have just cause to stop him because of the group of bikes around him? Let us know what you think in the comments!
