For most drivers who hit the track as NASCAR professional racers or any kind of racers, for that matter, most become one with the sport, falling in love with it as racing will surely become a big part of any driver’s life. As you could imagine, stepping away from it could prove to be difficult.
Via Fox Sports, we have learned that NASCAR driver, Carl Edwards is expected to announce that he will “step away” from the sport. With many early driver retirements, we wouldn’t be too shocked to hear that this was the end of Carl’s racing career, but we haven’t heard anything definite as of yet.
Because Edwards has been a force in the world of racing, the announcement kind of comes as a shock. Perhaps Edwards is ready to go out on top of his game at the ripe young age of 37. Fox Sports continued that Edwards didn’t exactly give a reason for this decision but it was noted that he’s a family-focused driver who is deeply involved with his life behind the scenes and doesn’t exactly fit the mold with the other drivers, spending more time close to home.
