Does Snow/Ice Mode Actually WORK On The New Camaro SS?

In the little bubble that we have as car enthusiasts, many of our peers who drive high-performance cars also have another car that they can drive on a regular basis or if inclement weather strikes. If you have a car that you have dumped lots of time and/or money into, it’s probably a reasonable idea to grab something else that can handle being beaten on and abused. Many think that picking up a basic $1000 car as a daily driver is more than worth it for a nice little insurance policy should you have to drive through snow and ice to get around somewhere. However, on the flipside, there are also plenty of people who own performance cars and drive them on a more regular basis.

This time, we check out a technology built-in to the new Chevrolet Camaro SS that is designed to actually help the driver tackle snow or ice. Not everybody who owns one of these cars has the opportunity to have another to drive and if they live in an area with bad weather, their surroundings might just take them on a perilous journey here and there where they have to drive their performance oriented machine in weather that’s not exactly accommodating. Therefore, Chevrolet is doing all they can to help in that situation.

If you follow along with the video below, you’ll be able to see how exactly the snow and ice driving mode works on the latest Camaro as the computer tries to compensate for the extreme lack of traction beneath your tires. It seems like a great effort and probably is one that could really help you out if you’re stuck out in bad weather with the new Camaro, however, if you’re driving a car like this, we would probably recommend trying to stay at home if the weather gets too bad. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!
