Dozens of High End Cars Valued at $5.2m Smashed as Part of Smuggling Bust

Sometimes, you end up in a  situation where it might just seem like the solution at hand isn’t one that makes much sense but when you dig deeper into it, you may discover the merit behind the steps that have been taken to solve a problem. In the recent story coming straight out of the Philippines where dozens of high-end cars were smashed, a collection of cars that were said to be worth over $5 million, people roared in outrage about how such an act could happen. However, when you take a deeper dive into it, things really do begin to align and make sense.

All of the cars that you see pictured here with badges from Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, and all sorts of other exotic automakers were smashed as they were seized as illegally imported vehicles. You would think that after seizing vehicles like these, the government would turn around and sell them for profit in order to invest that money back into programs that do positive things in the community. However, with such a situation, you would see a substantial conflict of interest.

Let’s say that the government does do something like that with the vehicles. Sure, it would provide more money for the economy but on the same hand, might cause law officials to be unnecessarily strict toward people who don’t deserve to be punished but are with the thought that the money seized will be doing good, anyway. Furthermore, somehow, we’re sure that corruption could overrule, ending up with money in somebody’s pocket as a result of the sales of these cars.

The clip below shows what happens when a bulldozer plows its way over the whole collection of cars that a lot of people would love to see in their driveway. At the end of the day, though, depending on who you ask, this might be just the message that needs to be sent in order to have a fair solution to illegal activity.
