Jeff Lutz vs Doc In The Street Beast! Street Outlaws LIVE Tucson AZ

Following the huge turnout and response to the Bristol No Prep event episode, Discovery Channel took the show west and rolled into Tucson Dragway for another race with a nice fat check for the winner. With another huge group of stars from the show as well as some of the biggest names in no prep racing on the property, that $40,000 check would certainly be earned, with the winner almost guaranteed to have to take out some heavy hitters on the way to the win.

Two names most of you should be pretty familiar with drew each other and lined up to do battle in front of the capacity crowd packed in the stands. Drag Week legend Jeff Lutz has been on Street Outlaws several times, always helping out the guys from the show as they work on their new combinations, but he’s got a hotrod of his own that’s pretty badass and he brought it to Arizona to throw down.

He lined up alongside 405 Top 10 runner James “Doc” Love in his badass Street Beast Monte Carlo. Doc has been a fixture at or near the top of the list for the whole Street Outlaws run thanks to the big-inch nitrous motor crammed between the fenders of the Monte Carlo. While he’s had a little bad luck on the past few episodes, nobody takes Doc lightly, as he is likely to lay down a killer run at any time.

Both cars lay down some fresh rubber with their burnouts, then back up in their tracks to maximize traction on the unprepped surface. Burnouts completed, the cars pull to the line and the tree drops, sending them both toward the finish line at a high rate of speed. The race is a great one, with he cars welded door-to-door for most of the track. Lutz just did pull ahead at the end to take the win, sending his wicked ’57 Chevy to the next round.
