Man Builds “Tankenstein” Rat Rod from WW2 Tank | RIDICULOUS RIDES

Among the many creative outlets that one could potentially use to exercise their individuality, the automotive scene is one that definitely shows off lots of separate viewpoints as people begin to dig into machines and use their very own perspective and thoughts on exactly what looks good and how certain vehicles will perform to accomplish whatever task it is that they have in mind for the car or truck. With these artistic renditions of functional machines, we get some rather ridiculous rides that are a lot of fun to look at and this time, it’s certainly no different as we check out one of the vehicles that might be as one-of-a-kind as it gets.

The vehicle in question goes by the name of “Tankenstein” and if the name does its job and foreshadows what you’re about to get with the machine, you might have learned that it’s the world’s one and only rat rod tank, or at least what the owner proclaims to be so.

The result might take you a minute or two to absorb all of it so that you can see everything that’s going on but when you start to get down to the nuts and bolts, you can see just how cool this machine really is as it takes multiple concepts and merges them together before throwing a little bit of a twist into the mix to make it all look good, a process that the builder says he did it all by eye without any sort of blueprint to speak of.

If you follow along down in the video below, you’ll see what cost about $2500, is powered by a 305 with about 175 hp, and  will do about 50 mph or so as a World War II era tank and some other old car parts, most notably the tow truck cab from a ’47 Mercury, come together to make one cohesive picture that is too awesome to not spend a little bit of extra time checking out.
