Police Officer Rescues Bear Locked In a Car… How Did He Get There?

They say that, as a police officer, you really never know what you’re going to face on the job with each and every shift that you take on. Even from a civilian’s perspective, we would have to assume that each day is different than the last, however, no matter how many years you’ve been on the job, I don’t think that too many officers can say they have taken part in a situation quite like this one. It’s definitely a series of events where intense caution had to be used and this officer is probably a little bit taken aback that he ended up being the one that had to go out there and deal with this one.

No, it wasn’t a situation where the suspect was particularly violent or anything of the like. However, it did turn out that, if handled improperly, this one could have been life-threatening. The dispatcher was probably pretty confused when the person on the other side of the phone told them that they needed help getting a bear free from inside of a car, however, when the officer got to the scene, that was exactly what was going on. It might have seemed like a prank call or something out of a sitcom but this was very much real life.

If you follow along with video below, you’ll be able to join in on the unlikeliest of police interactions that definitely left this officer with a story to tell. How exactly someone managed to get a bear trapped in their car is really beyond us but I guess that the result makes for quite the interesting story to tell at parties. When this guy goes home at the end of day, I’m not really sure that his family is going to believe him when he tells them that he fended off a bear!

A Placer County Sheriff’s deputy had to rescue a bear that trapped itself inside a car recently near Lake Tahoe. The bear got into a Subaru Outback in Carnelian Bay and destroyed the interior so badly that the doors couldn’t be unlocked. It was decided the safest way to get the bear out of the car was to break the window. Deputy Lade was brave enough to break the window, allowing the bear to jump out and flee into the forest.
