Terrifying Crash Test Shows Why You Shouldn’t Ride in the Bed of a Pickup Truck

We have heard for years how dangerous it can be to ride in the bed of a pickup truck. However, the option might look rather attractive as it is either convenient or could prove to be a good time riding along with your friends. However, after watching the results of what a pickup crash test really looks like when there are people in the bed, you might just think twice before thinking about doing something like this again. You never know what could happen as a split second could change a lifetime and if you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, well, the results could be deadly.

In this one, we take a look at an official crash test that has a group of dummies sitting in the back of a such a truck, when all of a sudden, the truck is rear-ended by a car traveling at a reasonable rate of speed. As two vehicles collide, the dummies either get ejected into the air, flying at what looks to be maybe 10 to 20 feet above the cab, or they just end up getting crushed in between the vehicles as they come together at a very quick rate. I’m not sure which I would elect to go for here myself, but I’d think that neither is the safest bet.

If you follow along down below with this demonstration, you just might get a little bit of insight as to how exactly things might end up if you choose ago on to ride like this. I think that your best bet, when it comes to riding in the bed of a pickup truck, is to try and avoid it altogether. After all, your personal safety is a lot more important than a little bit of convenience, right? You don’t want to let something short term like this affect you for the rest of your life if you manage to make it out in one piece and this test doesn’t even consider something like a rollover!
