Tesla P100D Breaks World Record With Help From an Elon Musk Tweet

If you haven’t been paying attention lately, it just so happens that the world of electric cars has been set on fire by the machines that Tesla has been putting out and not only are they highly efficient, but they also happen to be able to kick some rear end out there on the drag strip as they are silent killers.

While it seems like the Tesla records have been slowing down, a recent tweet by Elon Musk himself had released some juicy info that would help to push that electric car record even deeper by taking a little bit of weight off of the front end of his cars to make these already quick machines even quicker.

When the guys at the Tesla Racing Channel heard the news that the “frunk” could be taken out to save some weight, they got right to it. For those of you who don’t speak electric car, the frunk is basically the front trunk area that is used to store your belongings.

The video down below will show you the results of a little bit of weight reduction that managed to punch this electric machine to a new world record for mass-produced electric vehicles, becoming the fastest Tesla to ever do it with a 10.44-second quarter mile pass at nearly 125 mph with this base model P100D.
