If we could think of one machine that would be most important to get stopped quickly, the semi would be it as it’s not only the heaviest on the road but also is one of the most heavily used in addition to being one of the least maneuverable. If one of these things need to be stopped on a dime, well, good luck! By the time the driver is able to come up with a reaction to what’s happening in front of him and jams on the brakes, that much moving momentum is going to be quite difficult to stop in the heat of the moment.

However, if we are taking most advantage of technology that’s out there today, a company like Volvo will put in place a collision warning system that’s complete with an emergency braking feature like we see here and this time, we take a look at the feature in action as this massive piece of machinery rolls up quickly on some unsuspecting dummy cars that are traveling way below the rate of the big rig and the system acts quickly. This is when the braking system kicks in to action in a hurry, making sure that it doesn’t do any damage where possible. It might give you a knot in your stomach but you can see the testing below!
