The Very First Start of the Big Red Camaro After the Fire!

RJ Gottlieb’s trademark Big Red Camaro is a legend around the automotive community. The car has been ripping asphalt from coast to coast for years with several wicked powerplants under the hood at different times.

The 250+ MPH-capable hotrod suffered an engine fire that caused significant damage to the car a while back, but the Big Red crew have made great progress in getting the back back on the road. They posted this video on their Facebook page late yesterday afternoon showing the first startup of the new bullet – a 598 inch big block with a massive ProCharger bolted to the front – since the blaze.

The team is looking at a little more time in the shop to button things up, but the first firing of the engine is always a sign it’s getting close to go-time. The tentative goal is to make the Mojave Mile in April, so keep an eye out for the Big Red Camaro to be out in the wild soon!

IT'S ALIVE!! First start-up! Thanks to Eric from Westech Dyno in the seat, Tim Fleenor on the fender. Special thanks to Jack the wiring magician from Jax Motorsports and Brian Macy from The EFI Store, and Holley Performance! The ProCharger boosted 598 on methanol is alive!
