This Is The Holy Grail Of All Hot Wheels!

The market for collectibles is really enough to make you stop what you’re doing and stare, dropping your jaw in wonder as you try and figure out exactly how something so small as a Hot Wheels car could possibly build up the value that the “Beach Bum” prototype has managed to. As the story goes, this prototype was released to some Hot Wheels employees to take home to the kids to test out. As you can imagine, with kids playing with them, most of them were probably destroyed and therefore, these prototypes might be worth a little bit of money but just how much could they possibly bring in?

This time, we take a ride with the crew over at Antiques Roadshow as they take a look at one specific prototype example that they find be the Holy Grail of collecting. As the host says, that’s a term that is thrown around a lot but he thinks that this one truly is the Holy Grail of Hot Wheels cars as it is a part of a run of 40 prototype models, all in various colors, and this one just so happens to be the rarest color of the group. In addition to that, it’s in pretty good shape, as well, so that’s always a plus in this kind of market, right?

When all is said and done, it’s all good news for this collector who finds out that the diecast is not valued at $20,000, $50,000, or even as little as $100,000 but maybe even more! How much can this thing possibly be worth? Head down to the video below to find out for yourself as these guys go into detail about all of the features that make this car special and why exactly it could bring tons of money if you sent it to auction.
