You’ve Heard of Texting and Driving Laws but Texting and Walking?

As time goes on and we discover different ways of life, well, the law might just have to reciprocate. After all, if we were living based off of the laws of years ago, society would look entirely different. As new technology comes out, sometimes, to keep everything safe, the law might put a new spin on how to act in day-to-day life. A perfectly good example of this that far too many people choose not to follow, for one reason or another, is the idea that you’re not allowed to text and drive. We have seen plenty of horrific accidents thanks to people ignoring this law which shows that it’s definitely an important step in the right direction, being reactive to technological advancement.

This time, we check out another peripheral law that kind of has a relationship with the texting and driving law but decides to take it one step further. In Honolulu, Hawaii, instead of being able to be nabbed for just texting and driving, you can now get nabbed for texting and walking. Yes, Really. Apparently, local government found that it was big enough of an issue that they would have to put something in place as to prevent personal injury, so, if you get caught walking through a crosswalk with your cell phone in hand, it could potentially yield a nice little fine. Personally, that would be one fine that I might have a little trouble paying.

If you follow along with the video down below, you’ll be able to see exactly the reasoning behind this law that seems to be a little bit out of control. I guess that maybe people do take using their cell phone to a new extent these days, completely tuning out the world around them but something like this seems like it’s maybe a little bit overboard. After checking out the clip below that lays all the information out on the table for us, be sure to tell us what you think about this new and obscure law.
