The tried-and-true most certainly have their place and there is a reason why they are so popular but it is the less common builds that take the road less traveled that really catch our eye and we would say that this Chevrolet Colorado fits into that category flawlessly as it really comes out of left field and shocks you in many ways.

From a¬†first glance at the front of the machine, you might not even expect that much out of the mini truck. A stock front end doesn’t tell the tale of what’s under the hood and behind the engine. Out back, however, you can tell that this little truck is all about business.

It all starts out with an LBZ Duramax diesel engine with a built block featuring stock heads and intake with a “Chinese Intercooler.” To really get the power pumping, the LBZ is hooked up to a 91mm Precision ProMod turbo that makes it crank out over 1000hp to the rear wheels which is complimented by 1800lb-ft of torque to really get the party started. In short, this thing rolls when you throw that long, skinny pedal down to the floor and the turbo gets to spooling.

The truck has been to the track but the owner says that it’s not done being tuned just yet. The result of some initial hits in the eighth mile were mid-five-second passes. If you don’t speak drag strip, that basically means that this truck is out there taking no prisoners. We have to say that we’re thoroughly impressed and it’s going to be interesting to see what happens when the truck is all dialed in and turned up. This build that threw the cookie cutter straight in the trash is really a head turner that has a lot more going on than meets the eye! We’re excited to see what comes of it!
