1970 Challenger T/A First Start in Years!

We love a good comeback story, and this is a great one. We’ve met Nick from the YouTube channel Nick’s Garage several times in the past, bringing you his adventures in rebuilding and restoring cars to their former glory. Nick is an ace mechanic who has decades of experience wrenching on cars old and new, but like us, he seems to have an affinity for the iconic muscle cars from the late 60’s and early 70’s.

Before Nick got his hands on it, this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T had been sitting in storage for nearly a decade, which meant there would be some work to be done to get then 340 Magnum engine to fire off for the next first time. Of course, we know a little work never scared Nick, who goes sets about the task of bringing the car back to life as soon as it rolls through the doors of hi Montreal shop.

He wastes little time diving under the hood to check the condition of the components and see what needs to be repaired or replaced to get the car back up and running. Of course, with the car being from an era when build quality was truly a mark of pride among automakers, it doesn’t really need too much work, a true testament to the way cars used to be built. Of course, it helps a lot not having hundreds of electrical components and miles of tedious wiring to worry about, but regardless, it is impressive to see a car of his age, having sat for 9 years, needing only some minor tweaks to fire up.

And when the engine does fire up, it runs like a champ, further proving the Dodge got it right all the way back in 1970 when this car was built. Thanks as always to Nick’s Garage for the awesome footage and telling the stories in such a great way. We look forward to seeing where this car ends up going as far as the level of restoration or modification planned in the future.
