Fans of Fast N’ Loud were caught off guard by the departure of Aaron Kaufman, longtime Gas Monkey fabricator and right hand man of Richard Rawlings. As surprising as his departure was, few believed we had seen the last of the talented Kaufman, and sure enough, just a couple of months later, he appeared on Discovery Channel’s cross-promotional special series, Mega Race. On Mega Race, Aaron faced off with Street Outlaws stars Farmtruck and AZN to build a do-it-all racer on a budget, and in his typical fashion, Aaron brought a potent ride to the duel. He took the win on the autocross course, but fell short on the drag strip. The tiebreaker challenge was an old-school tug-of-war, and Kaufman’s LS-swapped BMW put up a fight but came up short against the heavier, torquier Farmbird of Farmtruck and AZN.
Now, the Bearded Wonder has opened up a shop of his own, Arclight Fabrication Co. As mentioned previously, Kaufman will be focused on his long time passion, early Ford F100 pickup trucks, while also talking on projects of all types along the way. Aaron plans to get a few F100’s built, each of varying levels of customization, while getting a feel for running things on his own. Also on the horizon, a cruise for himself and a few of his fellow Ford fans. Dubbed the Fun Hundred Run, Kaufman will lead the way as he and his fellow F100 owners tour some of the best routes in Texas. Along the way, they’ll camp out and swap stories around all night and drive all day. Be sure to check out the website for some Arclight apparel and accessories, and keep and eye out for that trademark beard, as we fully expect to see much more of Aaron on television as he pursues his awesome new ventures.
