For those who weren’t able to catch up with the Drag Illustrated World Doorslammer Nationals, they missed quite the show.
Luckily for these folks, though, we have all sorts of highlights to satiate our need for speed. There were a lot of storylines running through Orlando Speed World when the race came to town. One that hits close to home, though, is that of our friend, Alex Laughlin.
When it came to the event, Laughlin decided that he wanted to run double duty. This meant that not only was he going to run his Pro Stock car. He was also going to hop behind the wheel of a Pro Mod in order to try and win two classes. While the ultimate scenario would’ve had him in the finals of both races, we didn’t quite get that much of a storybook ending. However, Alex did manage to power his way all the way through the Pro Mod class.
One of the most noteworthy things here is not only the stacked field that he managed to blast on through. Instead, we also think it’s incredible that this event was the first time that he ever found his way behind the wheel of the Caruso Family Racing Chevrolet Camaro.
In any case, Laughlin was able to wield the car like the true professional that he is. Down in the video below, we’re able to catch up with the entirety of the action from the Pro Mod eliminations thanks to the guys over at Straight Line Media. Throughout the class, we sit trackside, taking a peek at the action from the best seat in the house.
With the level of competition here, some of these races get incredibly close. You really have to have your stuff together in order to compete when the separation at the finish line is quicker than the blink of an eye.
