Dodge Demon vs Modified Cadillac CTS-V - 1/4 Mile Drag Race

Dodge’s SRT Challenger Demon, or simply “The Demon” as it’s quickly become know, has set the bar for showroom-stock performance. Designed from the ground up to be the first fully-featured, roadworthy car that comes with a warranty that was built with optimal quarter mile performance in mind, the Demon is an absolutely ridiculous ride to take down the track.

Under the hood, an 840 horsepower supercharged HEMI powerplant provides enough torque to the super-sticky rear tires – the Demon is the first car to come from the factory with drag radials mounted up – to actually lift the front tires off the ground, another first for a production car. In perfect conditions on a stellar track, the car ran 9.6’s through the quarter. In the middle of July with the unwavering Indiana sun beating down on Lucas Oil Raceway, we managed to put up runs in the 10.20 range ourselves, proving that while the testing numbers turned by Dodge were certainly quicker, in real world conditions the car is still a formidable machine that is a ton of fun to take down the drag strip.

Of course, the Demon is the only performance ride to come out of the domestic camps. While this particular matchup is a bit lopsided, we are starting to see a bit of a war brewing between the Demon and Chevrolet’s new ZR1, a car that’s already been deep into the ten second range and shows tons of potential with some added traction and a little more power.

However, that’s not what this video is about. Instead, we have the luxo-bruiser Cadillac CTS-V, a car that isn’t quite up to the task of taking down the Demon, but is more than capable of transporting a car load of passengers down the quarter mile in rapid fashion in the utmost comfort and luxury. That’s what makes the CTS-V such an awesome ride, the mix of luxury and performance, both of which the car has plenty of.

Even being out gunned, the Caddy still puts up a respectable fight, but on this day, the Demon remains the king of the quarter mile.
