Jeep Breaks Out All the Nostalgia With Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" Super Bowl Spot
It’s time for the Super Bowl!
You know what that means. Yeah, we get to see the best teams of the year have their shot at making history. As big as the opportunity is, some viewers might find a bit of a distraction. In fact, we would think that some people who don’t even care about football will be tuning in for one reason.
We also get to see some of our favorite brands take a shot at making an unforgettable advertisement. After all, somehow, the big game has become synonymous with the most attention-grabbing commercials. After all, when spending $5.6 million for 30-second of air time, they’d better make it good.
Several automotive brands stepped into the fold. One of those shooting for ad supremacy was Jeep. In order to accomplish their ideal ad, it meant incorporating nostalgia into the fold. What better way to get people to open up their bank accounts than to appeal to pleasant memories from the past?
The commercial would bring about several familiar faces. Leading the charge, we find Bill Murray who is wheeling around town in the bright Jeep Gladiator. As the commercial moves on, we find more and more plot points come to life from the movie released all the way back in 1993.
By following along with the video below, we’ll be able to check out what Jeep deemed to be worth several million dollars. That doesn’t even account for the talent that they had to pay to play a part in the ad! That means that they’re going to need to sell quite a few Gladiators in order to offset this expenditure.
After checking this one out, be sure to tell us if you think the juice was worth the squeeze? Did the company get their millions worth from this creative endeavor?
