An outfitted passing driver was credited with sparing the life of an Arizona state trooper by shooting and killing a shooter who trapped the trooper on Interstate 10 interstate before first light Thursday.
“I would simply say now, thank you, since I don’t have the foggiest idea about that my trooper would be alive today without his help,” Col. Plain Milstead, chief of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, said after he met with the truly harmed trooper at the healing center.
The trooper — a 27-year veteran who hasn’t been recognized yet was accounted for as steady with gunfire wounds in his trunk and right shoulder — was reacting to reports that shots had been discharged at around 4 a.m. (6 a.m. ET) on Interstate 10 around 40 miles west of Phoenix, Milstead said.
In transit, the trooper recognized a rollover mischance, halted to explore and started closing off the scene. A lady who was accepted to have been launched out from the vehicle was later resolved to have passed on at the scene, experts said.
