Ah, the dyno.

When comes right down to it, such a machine can provide a place where dreams are made or dreams are broken. It’s the ultimate tool used to dial in a performance combination. For someone looking to get their setup just right, tuning has never been easier than it is with your own dyno.

However, it can also be a place where you can get yourself in a little bit of trouble. Sure, having more data can be useful. However, more data can also be encouraging to make you want to push your combination even further.

The diesel truck community seems to really get caught up on making power numbers sometimes. While that could be a fun pursuit, it can also be dangerous. After all, a truck making a thousand horsepower with enough torque to spin the Earth is rather impressive. However, chasing down higher numbers can easily lead to catastrophic failure.

It’s not exactly clear if that’s the case here. However, in any situation, this particular dyno pull would be the scene of a little bit of heartbreak. In fact, the Dodge Ram in question would go through catastrophic meltdown when it made its way to the rollers.

Now, we’re certainly no strangers to seeing issues unfold when going wide-open throttle. This time, though, we check in with a situation that’s about as catastrophic as it gets. Not only did this truck end up providing its own pyrotechnics. Apparently, it blew apart the turbo to the point where the turbine went flying. Luckily, the pieces didn’t hit anybody. However, when the turbine hit the ground, it ended up spinning like a top.

At the end of the day, it made quite a video. This is probably as expensive as it gets when it comes to putting on a show with a truck, though.

Ever seen an ejected turbine wheel spin like a top after 4 seconds of air time? Neither have we!!! @americanmusclehd #gtx5018r #turbotop #60psiboost #1600hpstreettruck
