Erica Enders Endures the Hurdles of 2020, Ends With Pro Stock Championship

For more reasons than one, 2020 has been an incredibly volatile and crazy year. This extends to places like the NHRA as well. Looking back, there have been a ton of different hurdles to get over for the teams involved in the sport. From sponsorship changes and uncertainty surrounding that all the way to not even knowing if they were going to be able to race because of COVID-19, there were surely plenty of distractions in addition to all of the normal distractions that come alongside racing at this level.

Because of that, this year might’ve even been the hardest year to go home with a championship in. All of the additional precautions surely have had to wear on teams as they tried to push forward with an endeavor that was already stressful enough.

Eventually, though, the group would be able to push their way through all of the challenges into a final race in Las Vegas. It was during this race that the chips would finally fall and we would figure out who would be going home with championships in their respective classes.

As far as the Pro Stock championship would go, the race would come down to two drivers in Erica Enders and Jason Line. Whoever could outlast the other would go home victorious. Naturally, they would both have their eyes on one another as the opposition made their pass. It was sue to be a battle to watch throughout the event.

However, Line would slip up early, taking an exit from the event in just the first round of eliminations on a holeshot. Upon lining up with Cristian Cuadra, Line would manage a quicker pass but be beaten on the tree by eight-hundredths of a second that would prove to be too much to make up. The pass sealed the deal for Enders.

With the championship in the bag, making Enders the winningest woman in NHRA history with her fourth Pro Stock title, she wasn’t quite done yet. Instead, she would go on to claim the event win as well.

Congrats to Enders and her team on making it through the crazy racing season to find ultimate success in NHRA Pro Stock in 2020.
