Ford Has Now Suspended F-150 Production Due To Parts Shortage!

Ford’s truck assembly plant in Michigan is facing a shutdown due to a fire at one of its suppliers. The shutdown had forced thousands of workers off the job, and as of now, there is no timeline for the plant to return to operation.

The plant manufacturers the Ford F-150, America’s best selling vehicle, so a lengthy delay could cause issues for the automaker. However, they do have almost three months supply on hand, hopefully enough to meet demand until the facility is able to return to operation. The parts shortage has also affected other Ford manufacturing facilities, and has even caused issues for other automakers who use the same supplier, although the effect hasn’t been as bad at the other facilities. There is currently no timeline for either the supplier or Ford’s plant to return to full operation, although it seems safe to assume both are working as hard as possible to get back up and running.

Ford’s F-series of trucks has been the best selling vehicle in America for 32 years and the best selling pickup since 1977. It is also the best selling vehicle in Canada. The F-series is also responsible for our of our favorite trucks of all time, the F-150 Raptor. We like the Raptor so much, we’ve had two of them and may very well pick up a third when they switch back to V8 engines for the 2019 model year.

According to the latest reports on the situation, the plant is expected to resume production in the next day or 2, hopefully returning production to previous levels and catching making up for the depletion in supply. We are sure the 3,600 employees will be glad to be back on the job as well. Ford has worked around the clock to source a new supplier while also helping the original supplier repair it’s facility and resume production.
