Greg Anderson Takes Home Seventh K&N Horsepower Challenge Victory at Las Vegas 4-Wides

Veteran Pro Stock pilot Greg Anderson continued to add to his historic stranglehold on Pro Stock’s prestigious “race within a race”, the K&N Horsepower Challenge on Saturday as he took his 7th overall win and third in a row in the Pro Stock bonus shootout. Anderson, a multi-time world champion in the factory hotrod eliminator had a gauntlet of former champions to take down en route to his $50,000 payday.

In the opening frame, he faced off with notorious starting line assassin Erica Enders, who strapped a sizable holeshot on Anderson, but could only watch as the red Summit-sponsored car just nosed her out in the lights to win by .008 of a second. That win sent Anderson to the second round, where Jeg Coughlin Jr awaited. Coughlin, who’s battled gremlins for the first part of the season, left just ahead of Anderson and also watched helplessly as Greg’s Camaro out-horsepowered him down the 1320.

Going into the finals against Butner, whose Camaro is powered by Anderson’s KB Racing engine program, the fans geared up for what was sure to be an epic final round, only to have the air sucked out of the venue when Butner appeared to take a stab at the tree and left long before the green light, handing the win and the huge paycheck to Anderson before the race even started. Anderson laid down a stellar-for-the-conditions 6.73 run that showed why Butner was trying to cut a killer light and fouled away his chance to win his first K&N Horsepower Challenge.

Anderson will enter eliminations for the DENSO NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at Las Vegas from the #1 position on the strength of his stout 6.669 run and will face off against the trio of Erica Enders, Shane Gray and Joey Grose in the opening round of eliminations at the first ever 4-Wide race at The Strip at LVMS. Butner qualified third and will have to contend with Jason Line, Vincent Nobile and Steve Graham in his first round quad.
