Sure, when the vast majority of folks hear “Bumblebee” and it’s associated with a yellow Chevrolet Camaro, their thoughts head toward Hollywood. Naturally, the first thought to pop into most folks’ head might be the cars on screen in the Transformers movies. However, for those who are fans of drag radial racing, an entirely different car might come to mind. This car, piloted by Jeff Miller, is one that has certainly seen its fair share highlights. In fact, Jeff Miller and Bumblebee even once held the eighth mile 275 radial record when they went 3.898 at 194.97 mph, an unheard of accomplishment for the time.
While the car has since been knocked off of the lead spot in the 275 worlds, it still has plenty to offer and always promises to be a competitor. This machine is nothing short of a blast every time that it goes down the track. Sometimes, it might be hard to really get a full appreciation of exactly the sensation that is delivered. At the end of the day, nobody is going to be able to feel what it’s like to rocket down the track in this machine unless they’re in the car. Unfortunately, there’s no realistic situation where we could all take turns making passes so something like this is about as close as we can get to scratch that itch.
By following along with the video below from JMalcom2004, we get to check out the Bee as it makes a pass from a variety of different angles. Not only are we taken down the track in the car but also get some key starting line footage as well. During this particular pass, Jeff did have to lift off of the throttle a little bit as the car began to lose traction. However, no matter what path we’re riding along with, it’s always a blast with a car like this. There’s something about that massive blower sticking out of the hood that really makes this car something to get even more excited about.
