It might be difficult to believe, but next year, Pontiac as a brand will have been defunct for a decade. However, even though it’s been nearly 10 years since we have seen an official Pontiac creation, that doesn’t stop enthusiasts from chasing down the dream of years past. Most of the time, the offerings come in the form of attempts to revive the performance side of the brand. Most notably, we have seen different creations that look to bring back the Pontiac Trans Am, arguably the brand’s most iconic offering.
For those who haven’t been paying close attention to the Trans am playbook, allow us to explain. For pretty much, it’s entire lifespan, the Pontiac Firebird, the base that the Trans Am was built off of, shared much of its architecture with a Chevrolet Camaro. Long story short, swapping out somebody panels, interior, and several other components would yield the other car. With this in mind, shops like Trans Am Specialties of Florida have decided that they want the Pontiac brand to keep on breathing. While what they’re making isn’t an official Pontiac product, we have to admit that it’s pretty darn cool.
In the video below, we get a taste of the 2019 Trans Am Carbon Fiber Edition. Essentially, what starts off as a 2019 Camaro ends up spiraling into a car that, from what we understand, creates over 1000hp with a look that we think Pontiac might even approve of it was still around.
The price tag on the carbon-clad car comes to $107,000. This might seem like a bit of a steep price for essentially a re-bodied Camaro with some performance modification done. However, on the other hand, we also get the feeling that there is quite the number of people who wouldn’t mind adding one of these things to their garage, either.
