Preseason testing at Arizona’s Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park has concluded and the teams that made the trip for the session are headed further west to Pomona to kick off the 2019 season at this weekend’s Winternationals.
While she and her team decided to forego testing this season, Leah Pritchett did post some footage from previous test sessions and decided to post that up on her social media accounts to get her fans fired up as her rigs are en route to Pomona from the Don Schumacher Racing headquarters in Indianapolis. With the NHRA having pretty strict regulations on video from national events, drivers aren’t usually able to take their own GoPro cameras onboard during passes, so this is footage you won’t often see unless it’s from a test session or in-car footage from the NHRA and Fox Sports own archives.
Even looking down the 1,000 foot track from the driver’s perspective, it’s still hard to grasp just how hard these cars accelerate, but you can see for yourself that those scoreboards that are just small rectangular dots against the horizon while the car is staged get real close real quick once Leah stomps on the gas.
Of course, that’s what 11,000 horsepower will do when the massive Goodyear slicks hold and send the car from a standing start to 330 MPH in around 3.7 seconds, the time it takes most supercars to reach just 60 MPH. The sound in the video is nothing like experiencing a top fuel run in person, even if you have your computer hooked up to a full surround sound system and crank the volume to 10, but that would definitely make this video way cooler!
