Man Believed to be Track Manager Throws Rock at Car Making a Pass on the Drag Strip

When things get heated, being able to handle them appropriately is an art form. On the other hand, a quick spin of the internet shows us all sorts of people who don’t understand how to handle tense situations appropriately. From the details that we have gathered about this night at Lubbock Dragway, let’s just say that the situation falls into the latter.

In a video posted to Facebook by Beau Novak, we watch as a car makes its way down the drag strip at night. It seems like just another normal pass. However, at the end of the pass, things will certainly escalate to a level that we have never personally seen before.

As the footage was filmed from a GoPro on a moving car, it’s not 100% clear. However, it’s clear enough to spot a figure on the side of the track throwing a piece of debris into the track at the speeding car.

In the caption, Novak says that this figure is the drag strip’s manager, Jeff Goddard. Why on earth would the manager of the drag strip throw a rock at a moving vehicle?

Novak says “Presumably because the driver was making a pass after the track had been “closed.”” He goes on to say that “Not a single track crew member or the owner made an effort to stop the car before making a pass or tell him he couldn’t. In fact, they can be seen on video watching from the starting line.”

Assuming that the figure actually was Goddard, we would think that a track manager would have a better solution. Perhaps banning owners of cars running inappropriately would probably be a more appropriate solution. On the other hand, throwing a rock at a speeding car is a good way to kill somebody.

We have reached out to Lubbock Dragway for comment. They have yet to respond.

Lubbock Dragway track manager, Jeff Goddard, can be seen throwing a large rock at a car going down the track. Presumably because the driver was making a pass after the track had been “closed”. Yet, not a single track crew member or the owner made an effort to stop the car before making a pass or tell him he couldn’t. In fact, they can be seen on video watching from the starting line.
