Metal Roof Blows Off, Hits Helicopter in the Blades Causing Emergency Landing

In just about any job, something unexpected can happen. One moment, things can be going as according to plan. The next, everything is going off the rails. In a normal job, such a scatter might not be all that big of a deal. A couple of quick fixes and your back on schedule. However, for a helicopter pilot, an unexpected situation could end up getting pretty dangerous.

This time, we check out a clip that gets incredibly crazy in a hurry. There isn’t too much context surrounding this one but the sequence within really has our heads spinning. The situation that starts off normally quickly evolves into something that looks like a part of an action movie.

From what we can tell, it looks like the helicopter pictured is coming in for an otherwise routine landing. As the chopper lowers itself toward the ground, though, debris comes into the picture that really changes things in a hurry. It would appear as if a piece of a metal roof had become dislodged and flew straight toward the chopper. Unfortunately, it did make contact with the chopper’s blades. However, the blades seemed to slice right through the piece of roofing.

The situation did seem to knock the helicopter off of its paths. However, it would appear as if the pilot managed to maintain control of the chopper to get to the ground safely. It doesn’t look like anybody was injured in the incident and the collateral damage was certainly minimized. However, that had to be an incredibly scary situation for all those involved.

We could speculate all that we want from here on the ground about how he would react. Unless someone is actually in that situation, though, it’s kind of hard to say how things would go. Luckily, everything was kept even keel here.
