Revisiting Some of NASCAR’s Most Off-The-Wall Repair Jobs

Sometimes, during the course of a race, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.

While many see NASCAR as a bunch of left turns and something that appears relatively easy, it’s anything but. For those who know the sport well, they understand that it’s incredibly strategy intensive. The good drivers will know their place and strike when the time is right. This doesn’t necessarily mean surging to the front and holding onto the lead the entire time. Instead, it might mean just staying in the race until they are absolutely ready to make their move at the right time.

The reason that drivers race this way is because the race is long and there are a lot of competitors. Naturally, the human error gets thrown into the mix and things can get a little bit dicey. Staying in the race the longest will be the most rewarding as it not only gives drivers a shot at victory. After all, you have to be in the race to win the race. It also allows them to collect points along the way as they climb the standings.

Every once in awhile, though, drivers end up getting dinged up a bit. Sometimes, this can mean a wreck that puts them out of the race entirely. Other times, though, they have damage that may be repairable. Depending on the situation, teams might send the car back out onto the race track to give it another go. While aerodynamics can be very important in NASCAR, There are definitely times where just holding the car together in order to make the last couple of laps might be the goal.

Many times, repairs are straightforward. This time, however, we dive into a compilation of some of NASCAR’s most interesting repair jobs. This includes everything from breaking out saws to swapping hoods and even throwing some tape in the mix for good measure.
