In what had to be a terrifying situation, it appears as if off-roading champion, BJ Baldwin, gunned down a man in self-defense. In the early morning hours of Saturday around 2 AM, Baldwin and his girlfriend went to In-N-Out for a late-night meal. The couple decided to sit outside the restaurant to consume the meal purchased from the restaurant. As they sat and ate, the couple was said to be approached by a gunman and another man.
We don’t have the full extent of the details as to what happened next. We do know that the situation escalated, though, as shots were fired.
Nearby people called police after they say about a dozen gunshots rang out. Baldwin and his girlfriend took cover as Baldwin returned fire, hitting the suspect and killing him. Baldwin does have a valid concealed weapons permit. The couple is said to have left the scene before calling the police. Baldwin was taken into custody but not arrested as he has been fully cooperating with Las Vegas Metro police.
Another man was said to be with the gunman but ended up fleeing from the scene. From what we understand, the now-deceased gunman’s girlfriend made her way to the scene to retrieve his weapon. We have no updates on her situation.
The latest says that police are searching for a motive for the original confrontation. As of now, the incident is being considered a “justifiable homicide.”

As a self-proclaimed, “Defensive Firearms Practitioner,” it appears as if Baldwin’s skillset could’ve very well saved his life in this situation. This type of training is something that nobody ever wants to have to use.
However, it could very well be the reason that Baldwin was able to escape.
