Small Tire Legend Stevie Fast Completes Transition to Pro Mod with WIN in Topeka!

It’s no secret that, while he’s been a dominant force in the small tire world for years, Steve “Stevie Fast” Jackson has lofty goals for himself, including eventually climbing into the cockpit of a top fuel dragster. However, until his nitro dreams come to pass, Stevie Fast has jumped into the ultra-competitive world of NHRA Pro Mod, one of the most exciting classes in all of drag racing.

After making a huge splash in the class with a number one qualifying effort in his first race at the 2017 Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida, Stevie got a first-person look at just how tough the class can be, failing to even make the field at his second event, the Spring Nationals held at Houston Raceway Park. Not surprisingly, Jackson would bounce back from the poor showing in Houston, landing himself in the field at the Four Wide Nationals in Concord, NC after picking up none other than Billy Stocklin to help wrangle the horsepower in his blown Camaro. However, as was the case in Gainesville, Stevie exited eliminations early, unable to advance past the opening round.

Never one to be deterred by an early exit, Jackson and his crew loaded up and made the short trip to Commerce Dragway for the Southern Nationals, where things began to come together for the fledgling Bahrain 1 Racing sponsored team. Racing out of the #11 qualifying spot, Jackson blitzed his opponents on race day, earning a spot in the finals alongside Pro Mod legend Mike Castellana, who actually used a holeshot to slam the door on Jackson’s event-win aspirations.

This past weekend, the tour rolled into Heartland Park Topeka for the Heartland Nationals, where Jackson would jump into the top half of the field during the rain-shortened qualifying sessions. Once again, Jackson found himself facing off with Castellana in the final round, where Jackson turned the tables and strapped a huge holeshot on the veteran wheelman and drove away to take his first win in NHRA competition.

With consistent qualifying efforts now and massive momentum following back-to-back final round appearances and his first win, Stevie is far more likely to step up his game even more instead of resting on his laurels. Notice has been served to the rest of the class: Stevie Fast and crew are here to stay and they aren’t racing for second place!
