Stevie “Fast” Jackson has quickly become one of the most popular names in drag racing. He has a track record that speaks for itself. His ability follows a way of fast talking that has made Stevie a fan favorite. He has quite an interesting story to follow as he has gone from grassroots style racing all the way up to the biggest stage in drag racing. In fact, to this day, he’s best known for dominating on all sorts of different stages simultaneously.
When it came time for the inaugural Drag Illustrated World Doorslammer Nationals, all eyes would be on Jackson. At this point in the timeline, it has almost become an expectation that he’s going to end up in the finals. No matter what he’s racing, Jackson has proven to be the ultimate wheelman.
This past weekend in Orlando, Florida, though, things wouldn’t exactly go as according to plan. One of the things about getting into a crash is that the situation doesn’t discriminate against anyone. Sometimes, the factors just simply don’t align as according to plan. This can mean that literally any driver from top to bottom could end up going sideways and in a situation that they simply don’t want to be in.
Unfortunately for Jackson, that exact scenario would unfold. After making a pass and getting narrowly beaten in his Pro Mod class, something unsavory would happen. It would unfold after the eighth mile finish line toward the big end of the track. It’s unclear what originally caused the incident. However, it does look like his parachute failed to deploy.
What we do know is that Stevie ended up going sideways and making contact with the wall. Thankfully, he was able to walk away a healthy man.
We’ve yet to receive any updates in regards to what this means for his appearance at Sweet 16 in a couple of weeks. With the amount of perseverance that he shown, it wouldn’t shock us if he were able to make that race as well.
