Tesla Rebuilder Has Car Catch On Fire, Things Got Intense

If you have been following Rich Rebuilds, you know about their status as the guy that that has been called the “Rogue Tesla Mechanic,” taking machines that are supposed to be worked on by Tesla’s own professionally trained technicians, at least if you ask Tesla, and working on them out of his garage. Because of this fact and his rebellion against the brand, Rich has gained a sort of notoriety and fame in and the community and even today, he continues to work with Tesla’s products against their opposition, regardless of if they want him to or not.

In one of his most recent products, it might’ve had the heart of the Tesla as it was sporting two Tesla 18650 battery modules, but the chassis wasn’t a Tesla model itself. In fact, a full-size Tesla has 8 times as many batteries, with a total of 16. I guess that, in a situation like this, the platform isn’t really important but what we do see is the result of what happens when two of these batteries go up in flames. The source of the fire is not apparent but the carnage that came about, as a result, is very real. In fact, we would say that this project went up quite ferociously in just a matter of minutes.

If you follow along with the video below, you’ll be able to get a peek at what exactly these batteries going up in flames looks like first hand. We certainly wouldn’t want to get in the way of this fire, let alone what might happen if all of the batteries and a full-size Tesla were to go up in flames. This is the perfect example of why not just anybody should be messing with this kind of technology and how it could get dangerous in a hurry. Perhaps, situations like this are why Tesla wants to keep all of the maintenance and repairs in-house.
