The Day Batdad Learned About Bitcoin

Unless you’ve been living in a cave – see what I did there – you have probably heard about Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency that has skyrocketed in value, producing a whole new group of suddenly-wealthy individuals who had the foresight to jump on board the virtual currency before the price soared.

While most people have at least figured out what cryptocurrency is and how it works, there are still a lot of people out there who either haven’t heard about Bitcoin or can’t wrap their head around the concept, and while they missed the boat, at least they don’t have the regret of saying they looked into Bitcoin years ago and shrugged it off as something that would never catch on.

Batdad, if you haven’t seen his videos before, is a social media phenom who uses a simple Batman cowl, a gravelly voice, and his phone to add a hilarious commentary to the world around him. In this video, Batdad and his kids are gathered around the table to decorate gingerbread houses, only his son Benjamin is distracted, working away on his laptop instead of joining the Christmas festivities. Batdad asks what he’s doing, to which young Ben replies “I’m buying a Ferrari with my Bitcoin,” which he has acquired by investing his tooth fairy money for the past couple of years.

Dad laughs off his son’s reply, and basically spends the rest of the day ridiculing him for saying he’s using tooth fairy money to buy a Ferrari, even scoffing at young Benjamin as he takes off on his quad to pick up his new ride.

Ben would have the last laugh, though, as he does indeed roll up in a brand new, gorgeous Ferrari, much to his father’s obvious surprise. Batdad is left speechless as his son shows off his new ride, throwing a few revs as dad stands in stunned silence. What a perfect way to illustrate how those without Bitcoin look at those who do have them, and how those with them are acting right about now.
