The Nitro Circus Crew Goes Overseas To Drive Speedcars

When I read the title of this video, I thought I was looking at some kind of strange mistranslation or just an outright typographical error. I mean if we’re being honest here, Speedcar Racing sounds like the most generic, lifeless title for a video ever, doesn’t it? But, I decided to go ahead and see what it was all about, and I am so, so very glad I did.

I’m still not sure exactly how to describe these Speedcars, but I think most would agree they look like a scaled down side-by-side or UTV that’s been mated with an F1 car and received a heart transplant from a sportbike. That’s honestly the best way I can come up with to describe them, and I know that sounds like a lot of fun to me, and I think after you watch this, you’ll agree.
Oh and also, there’s the fact that the guys and gal headed to test out these insane little rides just happens to be from none other than the Nitro Circus crew. You know them, you love them, you get to see them do what they do behind the wheel of the Speedcars. What better folks to introduce us to these new racecars? You have Dusty Wygle, Erik Roner, Streebike Tommy, and Jolene Van Vugt loading up and making the trek to Finland to meet Toni Ahokas, who introduces them to their new rides.

Powered by 750 cc sportbike engines and riding on a wide, but cushy suspension, Speed cars seem to be the best of both the UTV and road racing worlds. While they look like they would be a bit top heavy and prone to rolling, the suspension is set up perfectly to keep them sitting upright as they power through the corners. With a claimed acceleration of 0-100 MPH in just over 3 seconds, these things seriously roll out, and as you will see in the video, the Nitro Circus crew has a great time behind the wheel of these things.

You can see as the track changes from asphalt to dirt how the handling characteristics differ, but the cars seem to always be balanced and predictable, which really just has me wondering when we will see them start popping up here in the states? Maybe we can make that happen soon!
