450 Cars Later, Man Has One of Europe’s Largest Car Collections

For those of us who enjoy cars, sometimes, the collections can get a little bit out of control. Now, unless you have all of the money in the world, what you’re collecting is probably more likely to be parts than it is entire cars but if you build up a nice little fortune for yourself, you can begin to collect cars as well. You never know what you’re going to come across and if you let things get away from you, before you know it, said collection of just a couple of machines can stumble into one that you have to hire people to help take care of for you or else you’d be looking at another full-time job.

This time, we check out such a collection as a businessman by the name of Roger Dunning has managed to put together quite a few machines to his liking. In fact, the collection that starts with a model year of about 1918 and spans all the way up to cars of today consists of 450 examples of machines that Roger has found to his liking over the years. In a half of a century, he has managed to put together a mass of cars that are not only tailored to his tastes but many of them are quite rare as well.

Perhaps one of the parts of a collection like this that is just as interesting as the cars themselves is how exactly the person behind it all manages to keep the show in motion. For starters, the collection that’s believed to be worth $45 million or so does have a team behind them to handle the upkeep but that’s not where it stops. When they’re not in use, pieces of the collection have become so sought-after that Roger has decided to start a business out of the collection, renting out the cars for television, films, photo shoots, and even events.
