Milwaukee’s New Digital Torque Wrench Practically Does the Job For You

No matter what the job at hand, as time goes on, our tools can only get better. As technology’s abilities improve, it’s only a matter of time before it spreads to the sector of your choosing. For example, in the garage, things are much easier today than they were just a couple of decades ago. In fact, there’s probably a vast amount of differences between today’s work and that of just a couple of years ago.

This time, we dig into a tool that is as old as if not older than most people who use it. The original torque wrench came out at some point in the 1930s. Since then, though, it has been through a variety of advancements that have made it more effective and easier to use. The latest advancement really has captured our attention. It’s something that a lot of folks are going to want to consider adding to the garage.

Just recently, Milwaukee actually dropped a digital motorized torque wrench. Essentially, the person using the tool will set the target and the wrench does the rest. A motor within will advance the bolt to the point where human power will be used to make sure it gets to the exact torque spec. All of this will be visualized through a digital screen. It’s these kinds of inventions that really help to make us work smarter, not harder.

As for the specifics of the wrench, there will be both a 3/8 and 1/2 inch version. The smaller of the bunch will operate from 10 to 100 lb-ft of torque. The larger will operate within the 10 to 150 lb-ft range. The digital readout is said to deliver a rating within 2% accuracy. A Milwaukee representative tells us that this meets or exceeds the abilities of most on the market. The unit will also notify the owner when the tool needs recertification. There are certain tolerances that the tool needs to be kept within and a little bit of recalibration may be necessary from time time.

For those interested in acquiring such a tool, the bear wrench will be available for $599. For someone looking to step up to the entire kit, it will cost $749. This includes two batteries and a charger.
